Community Service Hours
One of the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School
Diploma (OSSD) for all students in Ontario is the completion of 40 hours of community
service. The tracking of community
service hours is moving to the online platform, Hour Republic. Students will receive
training on the use of Hour Republic at the school this spring. Moving forward,
students will independently enter their hours into Hour Republic through Brightspace.
Part of the validation of the community service is an email that will be sent
to you, the parent or guardian, where you will confirm that your child has
completed the community service hours recorded in Hour Republic. Please note
that Grade 8 students can only start collecting volunteer hours once summer
vacation begins. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the
